Abstract

This article is a critique on the paper Spatial characterization of long-term hydrological change in the Arkavathy watershed adjacent to Bangalore, India, by Penny et al. (2018), published in the journal of Hydrology and Earth System Sciences (volume 22, issue number 1). Penny et al. (2018) have applied a methodology for analysing long-term hydrological changes by treating a gauged watershed as a un-gauged one. The arguments presented in this article highlights choice of inappropriate methodology (for a watershed which is actually gauged) and faulty assumptions by Penny et al. (2018) for analysing the watershed scale hydrological changes, generating misleading results and inferences.
